Our Community's Needs Are Our Clinic's Needs

It’s an important moment for our community. Just last month the Culmore Clinic team attended an important meeting hosted by the Northern Virginia Health Foundation (NVHF). The topic: “Lost Opportunities: The Persistence of Disadvantaged Neighborhoods in Northern Virginia.” Here’s what we, as a community of people supporting the healthcare needs of our neighbors along Leesburg Pike, should know.

From 2017 – 2021, the overall socioeconomic conditions of our primary service area have declined. Here’s what that looks like for our neighbors:

  • 34.5% of the residents in our neighborhood are living at or below the Federal Poverty Level (FPL)

    • Double where it was a decade ago (as reported in the NVHF’s 2009-2013 survey data).

  • Close to 40% of Culmore Clinic’s immediate community does not have health insurance

    • Our free healthcare services are critical to meeting our community’s overall health needs.

  • Two in five residents in our immediate area have limited English proficiency

    • Culmore Clinic’s on-site medical interpretation services are vital to important healthcare conversations with our patients.

The time is NOW. Please invest in the health of our community.

The state of our community reinforces our Clinic goals for 2024:

  • Increase the number of patient hours by more than 2,000 by adding a full-time healthcare provider AND introducing Physician Associate students from Shenandoah University to our healthcare practice

  • Connect with our neighbors – reaching out to share health and wellness information… all led by our new Community Health Worker

  • Upgrading the efficiency of our enrollment process to welcome more new patients in 2024

All of this sets us up for even more patient care in 2024. We’re at a crossroads in our evolution as a Clinic, and the foundation is in place to expand and to grow to meet the urgent medical needs of our surrounding community.

We’ve served hundreds of patients in the Bailey’s Crossroads area by providing free, compassionate, and respectful healthcare. We take great pride in our first decade as a 501(c)(3) and look forward to this next chapter.

Help us prepare for the patients of 2024 with an end-of-year gift supporting Culmore Clinic. We’re bringing the community together to improve access to healthcare.

Make your gift today to support those who, without Culmore Clinic, would go without healthcare.
